I also started training hard for my upcoming race. I had the best run I have had in a while Saturday morning. It may have been a result of the excitement and adrenaline rush of discovering that I get to train with Nike, but whatever the reason, I had a great 5 mile run. I also did quite a bit of Nike Training Club drills and had a great tennis match. It was a great week of training and I hope I have more great days in the future.
My commitment to clean eating is even more important right now. I have 5 months to prepare for the race of my life and I don't have any room for shortcuts or falling off the wagon. I want to be fit, fast and prepared to run my best race in 2012! I'll be posting some of my healthy recipes here in the future. I hope you join me with healthy eating and maybe I'll see you at the Nike Women's Marathon!
Hi Karen!
ReplyDeleteIt me @nerissa_ann I was just wondering if you have ever experienced a bad headache after a strenuous run & if so any recommendations to prevent? As you you I've been taking part of the #nikeplus100 and started getting bad headaches if ran more than 5k - I'm also in my 2nd week of training for the NWM2012 and now getting nervous if this cont's :S
Sometimes headaches can be caused by poor posture or the pounding. I would recommend making sure you are standing tall while running and not tensing your shoulders and neck. I tend to carry all my stress in my upper back and shoulders and this often causes my headaches. I would make sure I'm focusing on posture and core strength. Also, it could be dehydration or too much sun exposure depending where you are running and at what time of day. I can't run in high temperatures because I get sick from the heat. Hope this helps! Keep me posted on your training and let me know if this clears up the headaches.
